Hydrasun leads the way through the provision and integration of hydrogen equipment services for a hydrogen refuelling station and associated infrastructure.
The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub will be a scalable green hydrogen production, storage and distribution facility in Aberdeen powered by renewable energy. It is being delivered by bp Aberdeen Hydrogen Energy Ltd, a joint venture between bp and Aberdeen City Council.
D2Zero company Hydrasun has been selected to deliver the technical package which involves the design and integrate the refuelling station and its associated infrastructure, to supply green hydrogen to local off-takers.
Hydrasun is at the forefront of the hydrogen sector, collaborating with key players in transport, manufacturing, and energy to accelerate innovation and technology adoption. To deliver the technical package, Hydrasun announced a project milestone in March 2025, awarding three contracts for major equipment packages for the project: a compression package, a storage package, and a 2.5MW electrolyser. These packages play a vital role in ensuring the efficient production, storage and distribution of hydrogen from the facility.
The scalable green hydrogen production, storage and distribution facility which will be powered by electricity generated at a solar farm is expected to be completed in 2027, with production of green hydrogen starting in 2026. Once operational, the hub is expected to produce around 300tonnes of green hydrogen which is enough to fuel 25 buses a day.
